Save The Developers! No More IE6

I came across this website while reading my RSS yesterday and wanted to pass along the message. Life would be a whole lot easier on us web developers without having to program for IE6.

Say no to IE 6! Our current campaign focuses on assisting users in upgrading their Internet Explorer 6 web browser. This campaign will result in former IE 6 users having a more enjoyable experience on the web while (hopefully) creating a less stressful and complicated environment for web developers by hastening the retirement of an outdated browser.

Join the Movement!
If you'd like to support our cause, you may do so by going door to door urging the inhabitants of your town to upgrade their browsers. Alternatively, you can place a call to our browser detection/upgrade recommendation script on your site to show your support:

But I like IE 6. From a user support perspective IE 7 stinks when it comes to weird security settings on things like Jave, FTP, and other types of downloads. I vote to save IE 6!!! Is there a website for that?

Much of it depends from what side you are looking at it. If you build for FF and then switch to IE and see what it did to your design - you not gonna like IE at all. I used to work for a shop where IE was a standard, developers hated Netscape for this exact reason. It broke things that worked perfectly well in original (IE) design ;)
Of course, no one neither read w3c specifications nor cared.

Great point Ruslan. I'm not sure you have read much about IE 8, but it looks like Microsoft has finally decided to support some dang standards!

Rick Strahl has a great post discussing this - http://www.west-wind.com/weblog/posts/269551.aspx.

@Rusian:

These days professional developers develop in Firefox, Safari, Opera or Konqueror first. When they code to spec, it works in all browsers without any tweaks! Except IE of course, but tweaking just for IE afterwards is much easier than the other way around.

If you are not aware of what bugs are actually in IE, I highly recommend a quick browse on my bug blog that highlights various bugs in all browsers, but you'll find most point directly at IE.
