Its that time of the week again to provide you with the new links added to my toolbox. This week I will be focusing on the best web-based RSS readers. You can see in the far right sidebar that I provide "my rss feeds" that I read daily, if not more frequently. If you have not used an RSS reader before, I highly recommend that you give one of the following a shot. My favorite is easily Google Reader, which you can get a sneak peak in the screenshot below.
I would like to note that I did not include sites like Google IG, PageFlakes, or any other online widget-based desktop site. You can read RSS feeds, but they are far more than a simple RSS reader.
- Google Reader - A simple reader that offers groups, tags, sharing, starring, and much more - definitely my favorite
- FeedShow - fasy and easy reader that provides folders, different formats (pdf, print, etc.), and the ability to monetize your feeds. Personally I would rather use Feedburner for that functionality
- Gritwire - My 2nd favorite reader - offers sharing, feed notes, inbox notifications, favorites, and more
- Bloglines - More basic reader with sharing, searching, and blog integration
- Rojo - Another great option with all the basic features, plus recommendations, and integrated blogging
- Newsgator Online - Standard features plus recommended content, smart feeds (kinda like technorati), browser plug-in, and desktop reader integration
A very nice list of a ton of all types (web-based, desktop, extensions, email-based, etc.) of RSS news aggregators can be found at http://www.newsonfeeds.com/faq/aggregators.
Do you think I missed a quality online RSS reader? Feel free to share and I'll try it out, and maybe even add it to the list!
