I came across this website while reading my RSS yesterday and wanted to pass along the message. Life would be a whole lot easier on us web developers without having to program for IE6.
Say no to IE 6! Our current campaign focuses on assisting users in upgrading their Internet Explorer 6 web browser. This campaign will result in former IE 6 users having a more enjoyable experience on the web while (hopefully) creating a less stressful and complicated environment for web developers by hastening the retirement of an outdated browser.

With Mix '08 less than a week away and the release of Silverlight 2.0 staring us down I was really excited to see this post and video detailing MLB.com completely rebuilding their video streaming service using Silverlight 1.0. There is a great interview with MLB.com's lead developer and director of Product Development.

I spent a few minutes trying to find a good source of multiple monitor desktop wallpaper and I thought I would share what I found. I was particularly interested in finding quad monitor backgrounds as that is the setup I'm running, but I have also provided sites that offer dual and triple images. Unfortunately I only found one good source of quad monitor images.

Its that time of the week again to provide you with the new links added to my toolbox. This week I will be focusing on the best web-based RSS readers. You can see in the far right sidebar that I provide "my rss feeds" that I read daily, if not more frequently. If you have not used an RSS reader before, I highly recommend that you give one of the following a shot. My favorite is easily Google Reader, which you can get a sneak peak in the screenshot in the full blog post.
Do you think I missed a quality online RSS reader? Feel free to share and I'll try it out, and maybe even add it to the list!

It appears that many a valentine are rushing to the web to send out that last minute e-card since they forgot to order flowers, make reservations, or even buy their lady a card. I tried bring up http://hallmark.com for about 5 minutes and kept receiving the following error...

Netflix has joined the bandwagon and opted to only offer Blu-ray High-Definition DVDs, as reported by Wired News. This is the latest in a slow progression of companies throwing their weight behind Blu-ray as the High-Definition DVD format.
And just when you thought things could not get worse for HD DVD, Variety has reported that the only two major supporters remaining in the HD DVD camp may bail ship as well. According to Variety, Paramount Pictures "has an escape clause in its HD DVD contract allowing it to release pics on Blu-ray after Warner Bros.' decision to back that format exclusively." (More details in post)
Feedback - What Blu-ray player would you recommend that I buy? Now that the momentum seems to have shifted I am comfortable purchasing a Blu-ray player and would love a little guidance?

Google's search homepage is sporting what may very well be my favorite Logo yet - one built completely out of legos! It even has a little lego man atop the second 'g'. I think I owned roughly 2 million lego pieces growing up (perhaps a bit of an exaggeration) and was very pleased to see such an awesome credit to a staple of my generation.
Update: The image is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the LEGO brick!

I was catching up on the news I missed this weekend while attending a hockey tournament that left me sore and disappointed when I came across a story from ESPN.com announcing the release of the NFL widgets. Despite that poor timing (the season ends in less than a week), these widgets are pretty dang cool. I have embedded the NFL Top Story Widget at the bottom of this post to show an example.

Three days ago I posted on the latest search engine for torrents, YouTorrent.com, and raved about how much I liked the service. In fact, I believe the word I used was "awesome". After just a few days of using the site to locate my *cough* legal *cough* torrents that ranged from software to movies I must say that I am rather pleased. And apparently I am not the only one after seeing YouTorrent's blog post on the traffic they received in the first 3 days where they show that they reached an amazing 150,000 searches per day within 3 days of launching the service! How's that for gaining some immediate traction with a new web-based service? And there's more...

I wish that I could take credit for designing the neat caricature you see on my website in the "about me" region that appears on the top-right of each page, however the truth is that I purchased it from Fasticon.com. They offer an awesome package for either $29 [head only] or $49 [full body] where they will create a custom caricature based on photos that you send. The process offers two separate approval points - the first occurs after the hand drawing is completed, and the second is once the color sample has been digitally created. Below is an graphic that shows the journey my caricature took before it was final. You can also see the side-by-side comparison of one of the pictures I sent of myself on Fasticon's blog post on my caricature.
